    Antique African HUTU People Rwanda Round Jug Vessel Pitcher Carved Wood
    For your consideration is an authentic antique tribal artifact from Africa - a spouted milk or water vessel with a Mandorla form
    Hutu People (also known as Abahutu), Rwanda, Central Africa. The Hutu tribes are a Bantu subgroup, inhabiting the African Great Lakes region in today's Rwanda and Burundi
    The Hutu and Tutsi, along with the Twa people, form the cultural and linguistic group Banyawanda, which are known particularly in the West for the devastating conflicts which arose between them in the region in the 20th century
    Rendered in a local hardwood, carved from a single piece. Interesting round form with a pointed spout. Ornamented with a geometric pattern
    Note the thin-walled design and distinctive features, both decorative and utilitarian
    Tagged on the underside by the previous owner - the prestigious Gordon B. Lankton Collection
