The Elkhart curved Soprano (SXSPU model) is a fantastic starting point for any new young player who can't quite stretch to an Alto, or indeed it would be suitable as a first Soprano for any Alto, Tenor or Clarinet player wanting to get into Sop Sax.
The Elkhart is the best 'affordable' curved Soprano we've found over the last 15-20 years. The manufacturing is very reliable and of a high quality. The instrument is easy to play and has a good tuning scale and strong keywork that can stand up to usage. We've seen a whole host of so called 'cheap and cheerful' curved sopranos, most of which are terribly out of tune and really poorly put together. The Elkhart is actually Taiwanese made (like Jupiter) and the quality is far above the 3rd party brand models washing around websites and marketplaces
