ANTIQUE AFRICAN TRIBAL WOOD HAND CARVED HARP,VERY OLD ANTHROPOMORPHIC ARCHED OR BOW HARP FROM ZAIRE.THE HEAD ,HITH METAL YEYS,EXTENDS FROM AN ELONGATED HOLLOW TORSO IS COVERED WITH PUNCTURED TIN;STRINGSARE INSERTED THROUGH NINE PUNCTURE HOLES (SOME OF WHICH ARE DOUBLE)AND SECURED ON THE INSIDE.THE LENGTH OF THE STRING RUNS FROM THE TORSO TO A BOWED NECK INSERTED INÂ THE TOP OF THE "HEAD".THE NECK HAS HOLES FOR SIX TURNING PEGS.IT'S NOTED THAT THE USE OF THIS KIND OF HARPS IN AFRICA DATES BACK THOUSENDS OF YEARS.CONDITION FAIR AS SEEN; MISSING PARTS.TORSO AND HEAD 17"H..WEIGHTS 3 LBS.
